Optimal pricing in ride-share platforms
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ride-share platforms are contemporary businesses that match passengers with drivers, unlike taxis can be hailed from the street. In literature, problem of optimizing operations such companies is mostly considered in static settings. We use this paper a dynamic model and propose differential equations to evolution system. The objective maximize profit during planning horizon. Using optimal control theory, we determine rate change ride price rate. An illustrative example along sensitivity analyses shows effect system parameters on solution obtained.

متن کاملOn Optimal Pricing of Services in On-demand Labor Platforms
I consider the optimal pricing problem faced by a freelance worker on an on-demand labor platform. Service requests arriving while the worker is busy are lost forever. Thus an hourly (or per-unit-time in general) pricing strategy appropriately captures the opportunity cost of accepting a job. With the view of improving capacity utilization in the face of arrival uncertainty, the worker may be t...
متن کاملThe Share-a-Ride Problem: People and parcels sharing taxis
New city logistics approaches are needed to ensure efficient urban mobility for both people and goods. Usually, these are handled independently in dedicated networks. This paper considers conceptual and mathematical models in which people and parcels are handled in an integrated way by the same taxi network. From a city perspective, this system has a potential to alleviate urban congestion and ...
متن کاملTwo-Sided Platforms: Pricing and Social Efficiency
This paper models two-sided market platforms, which connect third-party suppliers (developers) of many different products and services to users who demand a variety of these products. From a positive perspective, our model provides a simple explanation for the stark differences in platform pricing structures observed across a range of industries, including software for computers and an increasi...
متن کاملSpatio-Temporal Pricing for Ridesharing Platforms
Ridesharing platforms match drivers and riders to trips, using dynamic prices to balance supply and demand. A challenge is to set prices that are appropriately smooth in space and time, in the sense that drivers will choose to accept their dispatched trips, rather than drive to another area or wait for higher prices or a better trip. We introduce the Spatio-Temporal Pricing (STP) mechanism. The...
